Recognition Branded Gear started in 2025, but the story behind it goes back much further.
My career started on the creative side of small business. I was raised in Northern Nevada and studied advertising and graphic design in college (proud University of Nevada alum — Go Pack!) before starting my career as a graphic designer for local print shops, building a freelance client base, and spending years working in graphic design, marketing, and photo retouching. I loved taking an idea and turning it into something real. A logo, a printed piece, a sign, or something a business could put its name on and be proud of.
Then life took me in a different direction.
After my first son was born, I was looking for an opportunity to earn a little more money and support my growing family. That opportunity eventually led me into the trades and, ultimately, to owning an electrical contracting company.
For nearly 12 years, we built and ran a successful service company alongside an incredible team of electricians and customer service professionals. I learned firsthand what it takes to operate a contracting business. Taking care of customers, managing employees, keeping crews productive, building a reputation, and trying to fit about 14 hours of work into an 8 hour day.
I also became the customer on the other side of the counter.
We ordered the company shirts. The hats. The business cards. The forms. The signs. The promotional products. I learned what mattered when you’re the business owner placing the order: make it look good, make it right, communicate clearly, and don’t make me spend half my day figuring it out.
Through all those years in the trades, there was one thing I never completely left behind: design.
The time I had for creative work became limited, but the desire to create never went away.
In 2026, we sold the electrical contracting company and I had the opportunity to bring those two chapters of my career together.
Recognition Branded Gear was born.
Today, we help contractors and local businesses outfit their crews and build a professional, consistent brand through custom hats, apparel, printed materials, signs, promotional products, and more.
But we’re not interested in simply putting your logo on stuff.
We want to understand your company, create products that actually fit your brand, and make the entire process easy for people who already have enough on their plate.
